Been a busy year for cozy mysteries! I set my reading goal of 50 books in January, but by August, I had to raise it to 85 and then to 95. I have one more book to finish today, meeting my 95 book goal. According to Goodreads’s Year in Books, I’ve read almost 20,000 words.
I did 3 reading challenges this year. I had a lot of fun doing book bingo, I read so many great books, but I think my favorite was Murder at Wedgefield Manor, which felt like a cross between a Hitchcock movie and a Christie novel. Also enjoyed Hemlock for the Holidays, that’s definitely going to be a series I stay up to date with.
Then in October, I did the Halloween Theme Read and why haven’t I done this before? I loved Designed for Haunting (Aurora Anderson #4) by Sybil Johnson. The first 3 books in the series are the r/CozyMystery book club picks for January, February and March and I’m so looking forward to it!
And then to round out the year, I did the Holiday Theme Read. Rubies and Revenge was my top picks, the Junkin Jewelry series is one I will obsessively watch for new books, it’s that good. Also loved Not a Creature Was Purring by Krista Davis. Runner up is As the Christmas Cookie Crumbles, that was a perfect Christmas read!
A great year for reading and I’m looking forward to 2022. Happy New Year, everyone!
